Privacy Policy

The short version: we collect only what Greenward needs to care for your plants. Your photos are private to your household, are never sold, and are never used to train AI models. You can delete your account and all of its data from inside the app at any time.

This policy explains how The Dreaming Company ("we", "us") handles information in the Greenward mobile app and the greenward.app website.

Information we collect

Account: your email address (used to send sign-in codes) and the first name you choose to give us.
Your home: a home name, whether pets (cat, dog, bird, rabbit) or young children live there — used only to show relevant safety information — and your plant-care experience level.
Location (optional): if you allow it or type a city, we store your approximate location, rounded to about 1 km. It powers frost, heat and rain alerts and season-aware watering. We never track your location in the background.
Plants: plant names, species, rooms, pot and light details, photos you take or choose, care logs (watering, feeding, soil checks), diagnoses, treatment plans and check-ins.
Chat: questions you ask about a plant and the answers you receive.
Subscription status: whether you are on the free plan or a paid plan. Payments are handled entirely by Apple or Google; we never see your card details.
Technical: basic logs needed to run and secure the service (for example, request times and error reports), and a record of AI usage per account to enforce fair-use limits.

How we use it

To identify plants, diagnose problems, build treatment plans and answer your questions.
To schedule watering and feeding reminders. Reminders are scheduled on your device.
To show pet and child safety information relevant to your household.
To provide weather alerts for your approximate location.
To operate, secure and improve Greenward, and to provide support when you contact us.

We do not sell your personal information, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.

AI processing

When you identify a plant, run a diagnosis, submit a check-in or ask a question, the relevant photos and plant details are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to generate the answer. Anthropic processes this data on our behalf and does not use it to train its models. AI answers can be wrong; pet and child toxicity information in Greenward comes from curated sources, not from AI.

Service providers

Supabase — database, authentication and photo storage (United States).
Vercel — hosting for our API and website.
Anthropic — AI analysis, as described above.
Open-Meteo — weather forecasts; receives only rounded coordinates, never your identity.
Apple / Google — app distribution and in-app purchases.

These providers may only use your information to provide their services to us.

Sharing within your household

Plants, photos and care history belong to your household. When household sharing becomes available and you invite someone, they will be able to see and care for the same plants. Nobody outside your household can see them.

Retention and deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete account; this permanently removes your account, your plants, photos, diagnoses and chat history from our systems. Backups are overwritten within 30 days. You can also email us to request a copy or deletion of your data.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Every database table is protected by row-level security so that only you and your household can access your records, and photos are stored privately and served through short-lived links.

Children

Greenward is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Telling us that young children live in your home is used only to show plant safety warnings.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR and California law), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, and to object to certain processing. Contact us and we will respond within 30 days.

Changes

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date above and notify you in the app.
